Medium Sudoku
A 9 × 9 Sudoku with 30 numbers given. Fewer clues mean more scanning, but every puzzle can still be solved by logic alone.
How to play
- Tap or click a square, then tap a number or type it on your keyboard. Arrow keys move around the grid.
- Fill the grid so every row, every column and every box contains each number from 1 to 9 exactly once.
- Turn on Notes to pencil in numbers you’re considering. If a number clashes with another in its row, column or box, it turns red.

Use Notes: pencil in the possible numbers for tricky squares, then look for a square with only one option left.
Look along a row for a number that fits in only one of its empty squares, even if that square could hold other numbers too.

Medium puzzles give 30 numbers instead of 38, so there are more empty squares and fewer obvious moves. They can still be solved without guessing.

Notes (also called pencil marks) are small numbers you put in a square to remember which numbers could still go there. Turn on Notes, then tap numbers to add or remove them.
What is a hidden single?
A hidden single is a number that can only go in one square of a row, column or box, even though that square could hold other numbers too. Finding them is the key skill for medium Sudoku.
