Using the games in class
- Warm-up on the board. Open a times table game on the projector or whiteboard and play a 60-second round together, with the class calling out answers.
- Practice stations. On tablets or Chromebooks, students can each work on the table or level they need. Practice mode has no timer, which suits students who find the clock stressful.
- Target the facts they miss. A missed question comes back a few turns later, and the results screen lists the facts to practise again. Students can note those down or show you.
- A daily puzzle routine. The Daily Sudoku and Daily Calcudoku are the same for everyone on the same day, so a class can solve the same puzzle and compare times.
- Logic as well as number facts. Calcudoku turns arithmetic around (“which two numbers multiply to 12?”), and Sudoku builds step-by-step reasoning. Both work well for early finishers.
Practising at home
- Little and often. A few minutes a day works better than a long session once a week. One 60-second round takes a minute.
- One skill at a time. Pick the single game that matches what your child is learning, such as the 7 times table, rather than jumping between topics.
- Beat your own best. Best scores and puzzle times are saved on your device, so children compete with themselves rather than with others.
- Nothing to install. Games run in the browser on a phone, tablet or computer, so you don’t need an app or an account.
Sharing a game
Every game has its own short link. Copy it from the address bar and paste it into your class page, homework sheet or message to parents. For example: https://gamesmathematics.com/7-times-table/.
Privacy for schools
Students don’t create accounts, and we never ask for names, emails or other personal details. Game progress stays in the student’s own browser. We use Google Analytics, which uses cookies, to count page views and games played. Read the privacy policy for the full details.
Questions and answers
Do students need accounts or logins?
No. Every game opens straight from its link, with no sign-up, email address or password, so there’s nothing to set up before a lesson.
Can I see my students’ scores?
Not yet. There’s no teacher dashboard: best scores are saved only in each student’s own browser. For now, ask students to tell you their score or show you the results screen.
What data does the site collect?
We don’t collect names, emails or any personal details. We use Google Analytics, which uses cookies, to see which pages are viewed and which games are started and finished. The privacy policy has the details.
Which devices does it work on?
Any device with a modern web browser, including Chromebooks, iPads, Android tablets, laptops and interactive whiteboards. Students can type answers on a keyboard or tap the on-screen number pad.
Is it free for schools?
Yes. Every game is free to play, for classes and at home.
