Measurement and data skills, step by step
Counting money comes first, in grades 1 to 3: coin values, counting mixed coins and making change. It uses skip counting in 5s, 10s and 25s.
Measurement conversion and area and perimeter follow in grades 3 to 5. Both lean on the times tables: 3 m is 3 × 100 cm, and a 6 by 4 rectangle has an area of 6 × 4 = 24 cm².
Data and chance come last. Mean, median and mode summarise a list of numbers, and probability counts how many ways something can happen out of all the outcomes.
