A small 4 × 4 grid with the numbers 1 to 4. Every row, column and 2 × 2 box needs all four numbers.
How to play
- Tap or click a square, then tap a number or type it on your keyboard. Arrow keys move around the grid.
- Fill the grid so every row, every column and every box contains each number from 1 to 4 exactly once.
- Turn on Notes to pencil in numbers you’re considering. If a number clashes with another in its row, column or box, it turns red.

Look for a row, column or box with only one empty square. The missing number is the one that isn’t there yet.

What age is 4×4 Sudoku for?
Most children can start 4 × 4 Sudoku at about age 5 or 6, once they recognise the numbers 1 to 4. It builds the same logic as full-size Sudoku with far less to keep track of.
Is Sudoku good for kids’ math skills?
Sudoku doesn’t use arithmetic, but it practises logical reasoning, patience and working step by step, which all help with problem-solving in math.
