How do you divide by 3?
Think of the 3 times table: “3 times what makes this number?” For 24 ÷ 3, 3 × 8 = 24, so the answer is 8.
Every ÷ 3 fact is a 3 times table fact turned around, so if you know 3 × 7 = 21, you know 21 ÷ 3 = 7. If the division is slow, practise the 3 times table first.
