How do you divide by 7?
Use the 7 times table backwards, or a fact you know from another table: 42 ÷ 7 = 6 because 6 × 7 = 42. For 56 ÷ 7, remember 5, 6, 7, 8: 56 = 7 × 8.
Every ÷ 7 fact is a 7 times table fact turned around, so if you know 7 × 7 = 49, you know 49 ÷ 7 = 7. If the division is slow, practise the 7 times table first.
