Adding Fractions Games Online Free
Add fractions with the same bottom number, take a fraction away from 1, and find the missing part that makes a whole.

How do you add fractions with the same denominator?
Add the top numbers and keep the bottom number the same: 3/8 + 2/8 = 5/8. The bottom number says what size the pieces are, and the top says how many pieces you have.
One whole is the bottom number over itself, like 8/8, so 1 − 3/8 = 5/8. If the steps with equal pieces are quick, practise equivalent fractions to get ready for different denominators.

Tips for adding fractions
Never add the bottom numbers. Eighths plus eighths are still eighths.
Think of fractions as pieces of pizza: 3 slices + 2 slices of an 8-slice pizza is 5 slices.
To make one whole, find what makes the top number equal the bottom: 3/7 needs 4/7.

Why don’t you add the denominators?
The denominator is the size of each piece. Adding 1/4 + 1/4 gives two quarters (2/4), not 2/8, because the pieces are still quarters.
Does this game include different denominators?
Not yet. Every question uses the same denominator, which is the first step children learn.
